Checklist of Instructions & Items Needed

Instructions for Baby

Your baby should be finished nursing or bottle feeding by 30 minutes before the ceremony.

Items Needed

  • 3 disposable diapers
  • 2 receiving blankets
  • 1 comfortable baby outfit with a onesie underneath it (bring extras of both)
  • 1 tube of Bacitracin ointment, unopened
  • 1 box of 4″ X 4″ sterile gauze pads
  • 2 ounces of sugar water (mix 1 ounce of water per 2-3 heaping tablespoons of sugar)
  • Baby yarmulke (hand made skullcap) will be provided by Mohel Lucy E. Waldman
  • Adult yarmulkes
  • 2 candlesticks with candles
  • Sweet red Kosher wine and Kiddush cup
  • Challah bread
  • Good lighting
  • Sturdy table and two chairs
  • Standard bed pillow with cotton pillow case
  • Trash can with liner

Father’s English and Hebrew names

Mother’s English and Hebrew names

Baby’s English and Hebrew names

Kvater’s name (the Kvater brings your baby into the room)

Sandek’s name (the Sandek is the person that holds your baby during the Brit Milah)

Names of those doing prayers and readings

Blessings

Prayer cards containing both Hebrew, its phonetic transliteration and English will be provided at the ceremony.

Parent(s) before the Brit Milah:

I am ready to fulfill the mitzvah of circumcision as the creator commanded us in the Torah:
“Throughout your generations every male among you shall be circumcised when he is eight days old.”

Parent(s) after the Brit Milah:

Praised are you, O Lord our God, ruler of the universe, who sanctified us with your commandments and commanded us to bring our son into the covenant of Abraham our father.
